Ice Midwest Goes Green
Going Green Starts With You
Wise moms everywhere remind us that actions speak louder than words. We can all talk about saving our planet but making those smart and sometimes challenging choices every day is what’s going to get the job done. We understand that companies can have a large impact on our environment.
That is why here at Pepsi Ice Midwest we understand that operating a green building is smart for the environment and smart for business. Internally, we have done several things to operate more efficiently and environmentally friendly. Not everying is ground breaking and exciting but doing the little things like turning off the computer when your not using it makes all the difference. Listed are are some of the little things that we do as a company we feel make a big impact:
1. Lowered ice depths to reduce energy consumption
2. Florescent lights that use less energy
3. TV Monitors turned off when not in use
4. Hot water temp in Olympia room turn down as low as possible
5. Unplug arcade games at night and during down times
6. Turn off computers when not in use and at closing
7. All room lights off unless in use
8. Motion detection lighting in rink that turn off when no one in on the ice
9. Using preset automated thermostats that turn off HVAC at night
10. Supporting local environmental organizations: Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education (KACEE) www.kacee.org and Kansas Green Schools www.kansasgreenschools.org
